Roskilly's Creates Historic Ice Cream For Tregothnan

Roskilly’s has teamed up with Tregothnan Estate to create a brand new Ice cream.

The new Kea Plum and Vanilla ice cream uses fruit from the historic plum orchards on Tregothnan’s Cornish estate and has been combined with Roskilly’s organic milk and ice cream expertise to create the unique new flavour, which will be sold on the Estate and to Roskilly's customers.

Jonathan Jones from Tregothnan says: “The Kea Plum orchard is over 300 years old and is the only one of its kind in the world. We have worked hard over the years to bring the orchards back to life and we want to ensure its future is preserved. One way of doing that is to make sure the fruit produced is used wisely and now that the trees are producing more plums, we decided to expand into ice cream.

Andy Phillips, Commercial Manager for Roskilly’s adds: “We really enjoyed working on this project. Tregothnan are a very like minded company where quality and doing things well is paramount. It was also very exciting to create an ice cream with the Kea plum. The taste is totally unique and the fruit works wonderfully in ice cream. The result really is exquisite and we are delighted to have worked with Tregothnan.”

Roskilly’s are delighted to announce the launch of their new website at www.roskillys.co.uk

Among the new features of the website there are a number of recipes and serving suggestions; encouraging eager cooks to incorporate their favourite Roskilly’s ice cream and yoghurts into everyday deserts and puddings!

Other features include a new online shop; selling fudge, preserves, jams, chutneys and other farm produce; with a ‘tasty’ online discount available to ardent online shoppers!

In keeping with the distinctive Roskilly’s brand the website incorporates the artwork of local artist Andre Ellis which is currently featured on all of the Roskilly’s ice cream tubs.

Andy Phillips, Commercial Manager at Roskilly’s explains: ‘time, knowledge and creativity are at the heart of everything Roskilly’s is involved with; these are essential ingredients for the delicious ice creams, fudge and yoghurts for which we have become known across the UK; we now feel our new website best represents this philosophy’

The website was designed by local agency Absolute Design who have been working closely with Roskilly’s to develop their brand. Alongside the website Absolute have developed new printed material and are in the process of developing new packaging and POS.

Uh-oh, is that sound of sleighbells - Surely not...

Instead of moaning about the late summer that we've had this year, we're enjoying these last few days of sunshine at the farm along with great sales turnover for the summer. Although the season is not over yet, our production team has worked ahead for this winter and brought out three creamy indulgent new ice creams and one fruity sorbet(3 ice creams including Xmas pudding Ice Cream, Roskilly's Spiced Ice and Brandy Butter Ice Cream and 1 mulled fruit sorbet) which will be available to order from now for delivery in December.

New addition to the Roskilly's team

The sunshine this August has brought to the farm a new addition to the team.

Former business manager at Cornwall Enterprise, Andy Phillips, has come with the aim of improving customer services (especially in Cornwall) and the distribution network.

He has also mentioned his excitement on the improvement of the product portfolio which will see the birth of a whole new range of chilled products. This will include yogurts which will be available for tasting at the Truro show (Lemon Quay 28-29-30 September).

Talking of tastier treats...

After we'd spoken to a few of our customers we realised that a lot of them didn't realise there's more to Roskilly's than ice cream. So we'll take advantage of this season's newsletter to remind you all of our scrumptious:

Jersey milk, Chutneys, Jams, Fudge, Mustards and Apple Juice which are made on the farm and available in several sizes (please ring us on 01326 280479 for further details).

To conclude...

Don't forget, here at the farm we always welcome visitors; come and enjoy our peaceful ponds, beautiful setting, great food at the Croust House (including Barbeque from Tuesday to Sunday during the high season) and a wide range of gifts from the Bull Pen shop.
