Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How many scoops of ice cream should I expect from a Roskilly's container?

Based on a 90g scoop, it should work out approximately like this:

    Container TypeVolumeNumber of Scoops
    Stainless Steel5 litres38 - 44
    Napoli4½ litres34 - 39
    Plastic4 litres30 - 35
  2. What's the best way to look after my scooping ice cream?

    1. Maintain the defrost and maintenance procedures for your freezer.
    2. If necessary, remove frost with a plastic scraper daily, taking care not to spill any in the ice cream.
    3. At the end of each day:
      • Smooth the ice cream's surface
      • Place lids or HDPE sheets on to ice cream containers
      • Remove from display-freezer to storage-freezer
    4. At the beginning of each day, remove the ice cream from storage-freezer into display-freezer about 30 minutes before you'll need it.

Note: If ice cream isn't correctly covered and stored overnight, it might shrink from the sides of the container and look frosted. As long as maximum storage temperatures are not exceeded, this does not affect the safety or the taste of the ice cream. Remove the top layer of frost and you'll see pristine ice cream.

  3. What's in Hokey Pokey?

Roskilly's own base ice cream, blended with caramel and pieces of our own, hand-made honeycomb.

  9. Can you produce all of your farmhouse ice creams as Organic?

At the moment, unfortunately not; but we're working on it. There are technical difficulties in transferring some farmhouse ice creams to organic – and sometimes we simply can't get the organic ingredients.

  10. Can you delivery your other product range when you deliver my ice cream?

Of course we can. We have frozen and ambient storage on our vans.

  11. Do I need to wear gloves when serving ice cream?

If you are handling money and ice cream we strongly suggest you wear gloves when serving ice cream (taking them off to do the financial transaction).

  12. Do you provide scooping and ice cream management training?

We can arrange for one of our team to visit for one-off training. If you need any more training support, we do make a charge.

  13. Do you use colourings, preservatives or additives in your ice cream?

All colouring in our products is provided by the ingredients (hence - for example - our mint flavours are white, not green); freezing preserves all the natural ingredients; organic ice cream may have the additive of pectin which is a gelling agent and salt for flavouring. Farmhouse ice cream contains emulsifiers, stabilisers and dextrose. Please ask if you require any further details.
