Bull Pen
The Bull Pen Gallery provides a showcase for the furniture and the fused stained glass made on the farm. You'll also find work from other local artists (some of whom work on the farm) displayed, including driftwood furniture, pictures, paintings, ceramics and jewellery.
The shop has an area devoted to children of all ages in which there are a wonderful selection of good quality wooden toys, unusual puzzles and games. There are also many interesting craft, children's and ecology books and a marvellous selection of cards.
The Bull Pen sells a range of locally crafted goods including glassware, jewellery, pottery, fine handmade furniture, sculptures as well as other smaller gifts and toys for children. Our own Roskilly's merchandise is also on sale here, including tea towels and postcards.
On offer in the Bull Pen Gallery
Samvado Sculpture
From tree to wood to artwork, the path to the forest is clear. This woodwork recalls trees as our ancient companions, back to the Stick and Stone age. Sculptures include spheres, bowls, obelisks. Outdoor sculptures are available to complete a new garden project, either from current collection or by commission.
Tombodama
Original jewellery for special occasions hand-made in Cornwall including earrings, bridal and evening jewellery, tiaras. Tombodama hand-make original limited editions designs using Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones, murano glass. The main shop for these is in Porthleven.
Furniture
The Bull Pen Gallery sells its own style of furniture, a style which uses a blend of cabinet making methods and modern furniture techniques, and which is influenced by vernacular country furniture, arts & crafts, shaker & Bauhaus. Construction is kept simple and exposed as an integral part of the design; this allows the character and beauty of the wood to speak for itself. The designs are largely made from wood, mainly English and European hardwoods, but often combined with glass, stone, metal, rope and cable.
Recent commissions have included counters for the National Trust, an altar for Truro Cathedral and a café for the Eden project.
The Carvers
Fumed Oak carver with glass panel; made from steamed timber, shaped and curved by hand, these chairs and carvers were first designed for the Croust House tea rooms. The range has been developing and extending over the past ten years. The carvers are notable for their generous seat, wide flat arms, and comfortable seating position.
The Chairs
These are made to order from Oak, Ash or Elm or Maple and Cherry. The glass panels are individually made by Bryn Roskilly. The chairs are very comfortable and can be tested in the (Bull Pen) gallery on the farm, or in the tea rooms.
One-off Projects
Desk of 'cats paw Oak' lightly fumed. Many projects have been tackled over the years from sideboards, cupboards and shelves, to benches, outdoor seats and even a ladder.
The Rickaby Table
This handsome design has no underframe, the strength of the structure is built into the thickness of the table top. The leg shows through the table top so that the attractive radiating end grain is displayed.
